"No SIM card installed"

So as I was sitting on my bed playing xbox, and all of a sudden I get a notification on my phone saying "No SIM car installed." But my SIM card is still in my phone. I haven't taken it out in months. Now I can't use my phone. Anyone know what the hell is going on?

Same thing happened to my 3gs. Just woke up one day and it said there was no sim. Went to AT&T and got a new sim and it worked instantly.

Pop out your SIM and put it back on. Restart. Try this a few more times.

This has happened to me ~2x in as many years, and this solution has always worked.

Use a paperclip to pop out the sim tray.
