No simcard if not signing up for global plan for Verizon?

I'm wondering about this too. I encounted to that "option" and stopped my ordering process and came to macrumors for answers. I was glad to see you posted about it, but there were no replies with any answers. So I keep checking back to see if anyone knows what the deal is. Does that mean Verizon has 6 versions of Iphone 4s? (all the memory options with and without sim cards?) One of the reasons I decided to upgrade my 4 was because I could have the option when traveling. But I am not going to commit to $30+ per month every month. I'm wondering if Verizon is scamming us. So I thought about it for 5 minutes and decided to order the version without the sim card. I wish they would have told us about this earlier so we didn't have the confusion at 3 am in the midst of racing to get the preorder done.
