Hey all:
I have a Mac Pro that I mainly use for video work and 3d animation. I use Final Cut for the video, but have to use 3DSmax for the modeling stuff. Since 3DSmax has to be run on Windows, I'm using BootCamp to dual-boot Win7. I installed a Windows-only Nvidia graphics card to use with the program, strictly for use under Windows. The graphics card works fine, but it killed the sound on my Windows OS. This is probably due to the card having HDMI out capabilities, which makes the system recognize it as a sound card and disable onboard audio.
Here's a list of things I have tried that didn't work:
1. Try front and back audio jacks, as well as different headphones
2. Set the speaker settings under "sound" to "speakers"
3. Disable one or both audio drivers (Tried all combinations)
4. Disable all other output devices under "sound"
5. Go through all the audio preferences in both "sound" and "realtek audio manager" and make sure none of them were set to any other output device
6. Reinstall the Bootcamp drivers, overwriting the ones installed by the graphics card's driver
7. Uninstall the graphics card
None of these things work, and I REALLY don't want to wipe my HDD and reinstall. I'm not even sure that would solve the problem. If I was using a straight PC like at work, I would assume the problem would be that the graphics card's drivers disabled onboard audio in BIOS. Since Macs only emulate BIOS, is there any way to reenable the audio?
(Even the internal speaker would be better than nothing, I can get rid of the graphics card if I need to, but I'd prefer to keep it)
