I'm calling the cops
I just got rid of my 5.1 surround setup and replaced it with a simple 2.1 setup. Yet now I don;t get any sound from DVD's. Before I was using the optical port but now I'm only using the regular line-out. What's the problem?

I thought I was having a similar problem recently with my DVD player and it turned out I had turned the DVD volume all the way down at some point and totally forgotten about it. Definitely not my finest moment. Are you sure you didn't accidentally do the same?

..that's the first thing that comes to mind.

The second is that there's an "Audio Output" setting inside the DVD Player preferences, make sure that's set to "System Sound Output."

Thanks, changing the sound output in prefs worked. It was just greyed out before so I didn't notice.
