No sound for alerts, key press or unlock!!!

My iPad had a strange problem - it doesnt play sound for any alert, email incoming/outgoing, key pressing or lock/unlock.
I checked the general settings everything is ON. Any idea??? Thanks a lot!

Ohh, yes. Thanks for your help. But why it so - when I mute it doesn't play sounds for alerts or lock but music or video are playing with sounds!!!

Contrary to popular belief, the switch is not for muting all sounds. It is a mute switch for silencing ringtones (on iphones) and alerts. The mute switch will not slience alarms, sound from music and video apps.
