No sound from mp4s but it plays in VLC

I can't seem to get audio to play in mp4 videos using quicktime or anything...but it does play the sound when I se VLC. I have downloaded Perian and Flip4mac the most recent ones but still no luck. Anyone know whats up? thanks.

Perhaps you can go into the stream using VLC and see what the audio is. As example, flac audio may not work. When you are using VLC, go up to the top control bar and to "Windows," select "media info" and search through it to see what info is given on your audio. It may not give the info but worth a try.
