So as I was listening to music and watching YouTube videos, I noticed sometimes my sound would cut off. I tried adjusting the sound, and I the sound bar had the little X on it, indicating I couldn't change sound nor I had any 'output' devices.
Because I use external speakers (Logitech Z4i), I unplugged the little 3.5mm jack and noticed it was glowing red. I've had this issue previously with my old Macbook, and now it's occurring with my iMac.

Any help in how to fix this issue?

It sometimes fixes itself, but it sometimes just cuts off and back on...

1)Go into System Preferences on the Apple Menu:
2)Click on the sound icon
3)Select the proper Output and Input

No this doesn't work. What happens is that the video occassionally freezes as a result, and also gives me a buzzing sound. Sometimes it just automatically switches between the external and internal speakers without touching a thing.
