No sound in QuickTime Pro with Avi file

I wanted to watch video that is a avi file and import it to my apple TV. When I open it in Quick time all I see is video and no sound. I have added multiple plugins

A52 Codec
Flip for Mac
Xvid
3ivX
Divx

Still there is no sounds coming from the videos. Any thoughts?

Mpeg streamclip is a freeware app. That I have used with sucess for converting
.avi to iPod. I belive that their are presets for both ipod and apple t.v.

I am in a similar boat. .avi work in the Divx player but not in quicktime, anyone know why?

I had the exact issue and someone told me to use VLC....I downloaded that and use it to open my avi files and it works well.
