No sound, no red light in headphone jack

Running on a MacBook Pro Core2Duo 2.2 with OSX 10.6.8

Haven't had sound for about a month and a half. I've searched and searched on the forums for an answer to my solution. The red light is not on in my headphone jack so it's not a digital audio output issue and I can still hear the startup chime.

Here's a list of my problems:
Sound doesn't work
iTunes won't open because of error 200
Computer hangs on shut down

Here's what I've tried:
SMC and PRAM reset
Rebooting in safe boot and doing some suggested things in Terminal
Repaired permissions, and other maintenance

After running a virus scan (I know, I know) I found this in some of the logs:

WARNING: Can't open file /System/Library/Components/CoreAudio.component/Contents/Resources/CoreAudio.rsrc: Operation not permitted
LibClamAV Error: fmap_readpage: pread error: Input/output error
LibClamAV Error: cli_readn: read error: Input/output error

Would a reinstall of Snow Leopard fix my problem? Perhaps my audio "driver" is corrupted?

Have you given the Apple Hardware Test a shot?

Can't run the AHT because I lost the original discs to my machine, and my Snow Leopard install disc doesn't have it. Should I just give reinstalling 10.6 a shot?
