No sound on notifications?

All,

I have an IPP11 on 12.4.1 stock (as in not jailbroken). I have tried setting volume (media and ringers/alerts) to 100% and can hear regular audio.

When games (not just one, but all) send me notifications I see the notification pop up but no sound alerting me to the notification. I've made sure notifications and notification sounds are on and all tones have a tone selected and i can hear the previews.

My wife's device has the same issue.

Is there some known issue with 12.4.1? We haven't always had this issue.

There are separate sound settings for media playback versus ringer and alerts (by default). If you go into Settings > Sounds at the top of the page there is a ringer and alerts slider for setting the volume for ringer and alerts; is that perhaps set very low (at the left)? There is also a slide switch where you can adjust ringer and alert volume with up/down buttons. Even if the volume slider is in the middle or to the right, try playing around with it, and turning the button slider off and on; sometimes if the system file that records these settings gets corrupted you can have problems such as you describe, and changing settings will cause the file to be overwritten with valid data.
