I have a headset with mike using blue and pink 3.5 mm plugs but I can't get it to work on my new MacBook. Plugging in to the body's headphone jack does not cut out the speakers. Changing sound preferences does not help at all. For Zoom sessions I have to use the built-in mike and speakers, which work well in quiet environments, but I prefer to use the headset (which worked on my 2011 MBP 13"). Also tried the headset socket on my multi-RCA hub but no use either. Any ideas? Thanks.

My guess is that it might work if you have the proper 3.5mm adapter that combines the blue plug (audio out/ear speakers) and the pink plug (microphone input) to a four-conductor 3.5mm miniplug (the same configuration as the wired earphones that shipped with iPhones & iPods for a decade).

The other option would be a dongle that takes the two 3.5mm miniplug jacks and combines them into a USB-A connector. I have something like this on a geriatric Plantronics headset that's well over a decade old.

Sites like Amazon or Monoprice would be the first places I would check for such a device.

Thanks, I've ordered a 2 x 3.5 mm female 3-pole into 1 x 3.5 mm (4 pole) male ... to use the MBP 16" body headphone jack. Could have considered the USB-C version too.
