no sound while playing music or movies

When I press on the volume control, it only alters the ringtone volume.

There is no sound when I play music and videos. What could possible go wrong? I tried to configure the "sound" but that didn't help at all. I have no idea what the heck happened. HELP! :mad::(

I am using an iphone 3gs, jailbroke, unlocked.
