hey guys, basically my mac was bought in march of this year. and 6 of those 8 months it has been in repair due to a faulty motherboard.
I've got a 500GB HDD.
I got it back three weeks ago and checked my storage space under 'about this mac' and I've got barely any left.
i only have 230ish GB of music and movies and apps, and then theres 254GB of 'other' taking up space on my computer.
Is there anything i can do about it? what is it? there can't possibly be that many files and document on my computer, because i don't have any. mabey 10 word files at most.
So what is it? how do i clear the space?

Grab a copy of WhatSize, GrandPerspective, or OmniDiskSweeper to see what's taking up space. My favorite is OmniDiskSweeper, I think it's the simplest one, but you can use any of them for the same purpose.
