No spoken directions in Maps (sometimes)

Sometimes I don't get spoken directions when navigating using Maps. Only step-by-step navigation with no real-time tracking (for example, it'll display "continue 30 miles" until you finish this leg, it will not reduce distance as you're driving). I haven't been able to link this occasional strange mode to anything, like cellular signal strength or populated/dispersed areas.

Anybody know what's going on?

Are you running 7.0.4? If not, try to update it.

The problem might be that the voice guidance mutes itself when the vibrate switch is on. Make sure you have it on ring.
