No Support For MFC5440CN Scanner Operation

Brother no longer supports my MFC5440CN scanner section of my printer. Is there a free scanner program that might work?

Great information! My brother mfc-8680dn scanner actually works with the cups macOS driver until the computer wakes from sleep where the scan window is blank. Only way to get it to work again is to delete the printer and reinstall After each wake cycle.
