hi, i was just doing tethering on my iphone 3g, with ios4 and now it seemed to disappear from the menu under network.

how is this possible?

thanks

are you paying the +$20 a month for it from AT&T?

That is the only "official" method for tethering...

You must do two things, the first is get on the $25 limited plan for 2gb data a month and then add tethering for an extra $20 that gives you absolutely nothing other than enabling that button.

"Tethering options
Smartphone customers who choose the DataPro plan can add tethering for an additional $20 per month. With tethering, you can use your smartphone as a modem to provide a broadband connection for laptop computers, netbooks, or other computing devices."

of course the pricing is complete BS! but for the majority of people the 2gb will be just fine.
