while it’s true that the Galaxy Tablets are sold with the S PEN included that does not mean that it’s free.

The reality is that you are being forced to pay for the S PEN whether you want it or not when you buy the Galaxy Tablets from Samsung.

It’s not a “deal” or a special “freebie”, it’s included in the overall price already.

thank you, that is all.

(the same goes for 2-in-1 “laptop/tablets”, if you don’t want the touchscreen model but you’re forced to pay for the touchscreen 2-in-1 because it has better specs etc)

OK..
If you can't buy that Galaxy tablet without the S Pen, then it is included as a standard accessory.
It's called "reality in marketing" - where the tablet comes with the S Pen.
If Samsung wants to refer to that as a "free" accessory, and it is not optional, then it is still "free"

If it is not OPTIONAL, then you are paying for it - all of it.
It's just part of the "deal" - it comes in the box.

No manufacturer forces one to buy a 2in1 if they don’t want it. They can choose to buy something else from someone else.

Same goes with the Samsung. If one objects. They may purchase something else.

There are a ton of options out there.

The only Galaxy tablets that work with the S Pen are the S7 and S7 Plus, both of which include a pen in the box. The rest of their lineup (S6 Lite, A series, etc.) neither support the S Pen nor come with one in the box. So if you want a cheap Samsung tablet, you won't get an S Pen. If you want to pay iPad Pro prices for a Samsung Tablet, you'll get an S pen.

I hate Samsung. They just got me to buy something I didn't want or need even after raising the price. Tricked me into trading in my iPad 2 for $250 while having to spend almost $400 on S7+/8GB/256GB and forced s-pen. Why can't I just trade in the iPad 2 for $250 without buying anything?

Feel your pain. TheBOARDSMITH is even worse, they do not even accept a trade in of an old iPad from 10 years ago for a WEGCB - still a better deal then your S7+ 🥸🤓

The Tab S6 lite supports the S pen and it comes in the box.

Farewell trusty dust collector. You suffered from very early obsolescence since your parent, Apple, skimped on 512MB DRAM while the competition offered up to 2GB.

Yes, it's included in the very good retail price. Get lost on your way to the Apple section did you?

i love posts like these, the photo and feelings!
what iPad model is that, the early 2010 edition?
$250 is a great price for something  won't support anymore.
are the good samsung tablets any good?

That’s called “selling”. Trade in prices are invariably higher because they make it up on the sale of the newer item.

You’d be lucky to get half that on a private sale.

Does that mean when I purchase an iPad, I'm forced to pay for an Apple pencil that I'll never receive unless I purchase an Apple pencil separately? I'm paying twice for an Apple pencil and only receiving one? o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

It's the 2011 iPad 2. Didn't age as well as Android tablets that are still usable while iPad 2 can't even install basic consumption apps like YouTube, Chrome, etc.

According to reviews Galaxy Tab S7+ has better display, camera, speakers, software features, etc. Will confirm when it arrives.

The iPad 2 was supported for a long time with software. I guess the original galaxy tab is from the same era. I’m sure you can still side load some apps onto android tablets of the same era. They might even still be getting google play services updates.

By the same logic:

"No the Mac computers do not come with free OS'es stop spreading this!.

While it's true that the Macs are sold with MacOS included that does not mean that it's free.

The reality is that you are being forced to pay for MacOS whether you want it or not when you buy the Mac computers from Apple.

(the same goes for iPads, if you don’t want the touchscreen you’re forced to pay for the touchscreen anyway because they don't sell them without a touchscreen), oh wait! maybe buy a Macbook instead?
"

Edit:
I suspect this post does not need a 'tongue in cheek' tag, but just in case: </tongue in cheek> for that one person who thinks I am serious.

The only 2 Android tablets that made any sort of splash from that era where the Xoom and the Galaxy Tab 10.1

The Xoom could take a custom KitKat 4.0.4 build from around 2013 although the last official release was from 2012.

The Tab faired little better with Jelly Bean in 2013.

The iPad 2 was able to get iOS 9 that took it through to 2016 and 9.35.

My Xoom died a death of slowness by 2016 which led to to get my current iPad Pro 9.7”

There’s no way anyone can convince me that an Android tablet from 2011 is anything but slow as molasses today.

I’ve still got my Xoom somewhere. I can only imagine how agonizing it’ll be to start up and attempt to use.

I had the 2012 Galaxy Note 10.1 with Wacom pen running Android Kit Kat 4.4 that had split screen multitasking. Last I checked it still worked with Google Play Store and could download latest YouTube, Chrome, etc. and still usable with 2GB DRAM unlike iPad 2/3 that can't download any apps, is DRAM deficient and just a bad user experience.

Agreed. I have an ipad 2 and its an alarm clock now. Meanwhile, the lePan mini I just sold still runs all the apps I run on my newer iPad. My latest tablet, the samsung galaxy tab a 8 LTE was 199 bucks, and its awesome. I do not pick up my iPad 6th gen anymore. I use the samsung. The freedom from the fruit is great. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the tab 7. I pads do not come with the PENCIL for free, spread the word. If it's included in the box then it's "free" How much is a pencil?

I don’t know about 2011 but I have a nexus 7 from 2013 and it’s still quite nippy. I haven’t tried to play any games on it but for web browsing, YouTube, Netflix etc it works just fine.

Most apps are still compatible with android 4.0. Highest cut off I’ve seen for most things is android 5.0 but most are 4.0 or 4.4. A lot of android apps and devices are compatible with older software versions.
Even the latest galaxy watch 3 is compatible with android phones running 5.0 and having at least 1.5 GB of ram.

Kit Kat is Davlik only, not ART. The latest YouTube I can get as a result on KitKat is v14.05.56 as opposed to 16.10.? for Lollipop plus.

I feel your pain. They got me last year with the Tab S6... $325 (before any trade-in), $45 for the Book Cover keyboard and $15 for the Book Cover. 😅
