Hello!

Just did a workout on a track nearby in Belgium, but the Watch didn’t seem to detect it so just did a normal workout instead of the new 9.2 feature.

Is the feature only available in the us?

On the apple support site of my country ( https://support.apple.com/nl-nl/guide/watch/apd2fc7911cf/watchos) it states that it should work. Anyone else has some experiences with the feature? In or outside the us?

I’m using the aw5 which should support it…

Thx

No idea what that website says because it's not in English, but track detection is very limited at the moment to countries and individual tracks apparently.

you would be better off using this app.
I have no idea why that app would help me? I don’t see how it has track detection? I already use WorkOutDoors when I want to use maps/routes.

I just wanted to try the new track detection feature on the aw, but I have the feeling it is really limited to some regions. It’s a pitty I can’t find any information on that.

There should also be an option to add tracks in the fitness-app but I don’t see it anywhere…

There is only info that track detection base on gps readings on Apple Maps - where it looks for track in place you are.

So if it’s not marked magicaly in Europe that coordinates are inside track it might not work as you said.

However I could not find a note how to distinguish marked and not marked track.

Yes, Apple posted it in the release notes for watchOS 9.2:

"Outdoor Run workout now automatically detects when you arrive at a running track and provides track specific metrics (United States only)"

There was a little confusion as the manuals were updated worldwide, but availability is currently only in US. No timetable when it is launched in other areas.

We discussed this topic in the watchOS 9 running thread here in this forum.

It’s really pissing me off that Apple once again created manuals for unsupported features.

For Poland there is even Fitness+ note in Apple Watch documents where Fitness+ was never available and will not be in near future.

I am stepping out of the Apple Ecosystem. After years of exclusively only apple products, i am throwing in the towel.

My AWU is ok but not 800 dollar nice vs a regular AW, sure more battery and a few other features but so so sooo lackluster due a combination of software by first and thirdparty.

My Mini 6 has terrible jelly scrolling, so no more ipad for me.

Lots of features in the past 4/5 years only got released/ implemented for europe/asia well over a year after release, while apple advertised these features like mad.... Apple is just not the best bang for buck if you are outside the USA and you want to make use of certain features that are part of your purchase.
