For some reason a trade-in option didn’t show up when I ordered the Ultra. Is this something I can initiate after I receive it? How?

No trade in option when I ordered the Ultra?

I am seriously jet lagged having returning home from an international flight, but moments ago I did not see any trade-in possible when trying to purchase a regular iW8.
Is there a published rationale by Apple on why they are alienating this part of their market?
This is a major loss to me as the open market options has often ended badly in the past. The range has been sold to a copy that went bankrupt, sold to a customer who backs out, etc.
Updated to say I found what I wanted when I use a browser on my pc rather than using Apple Store app on my iPhone 13 Pro.
