Managed to get work to give me a MBP. Usually they're 'managed builds' but I've persuaded them to give me admin rights so can control the machine.

However... There's something odd going on and I'm puzzled:

- two-finger scrolling doesn't work and there's no 'trackpad' option in system preferences
- using the function keys doesn't work as expected. eg, F1/F2 don't change the brightness yet at the other end, F11/F12 do work for expose/show desktop etc.

What could be the problem? Is there something the managed build could have disactivated??

It's a MacBook Pro 2.4 intel core duo, running 10.4.11

wrong keyboard mapped?

I think I'm closer to understanding the problem: I think this macbook thinks it has an external keyboard. That would explain why the <fn> key doesn't work and why the two-finger scrolling doesn't work either

When I bring up the keyboard viewer, it looks like an external full keyboard

Anyone know how I can convince the MBP to acknowledge the built-in keyboard properly as the input device? Help much appreciated
