Did you decide to not pre-order because you wanted to line up and buy your unlocked iPhone 5 at a retail store? Well, unfortunately they neglected to mention retail stores will not (at least at first) be selling unlocked phone in retail. Contract only.

Thankfully I pre-ordered this time around but in years past I did the line up to make sure I got my phone. This is a horrible idea and I'm thinking has left a lot of people to wait longer than they would have liked.

Wow, so I basically lost all chance of getting the iPhone 5 unlocked any time soon. :(

EDIT: Thanks for the heads up as I was planning to line up at the Apple store

I would love to know the reason behind this. One would think that up here all of the unlocked phones that people buy are a much higher profit margin. Unless the carriers wanted some sort of assurance that stock would be higher for their customers.
