As of launch day, you can't get an unlocked iPhone.

So you don't have to place an order, just keep your current phone.

Wrong. Apple will not confirm nor deny the above statement. The iPhone 5C Unlocked is available on launch day in the United States. Therefore, I'd imagine the same for the 5s as well.

As always, best of luck to all.

Their website says otherwise.

Again, 7 Apple representatives said they don't know. The page I am viewing says that all models will be available September 20th. Please show me the page that says the Unlocked versions are unavailable on September 20th.

1.) They never do.

2.) It's obvious on the Apple website. There is NO unlocked version.

1. Really? Because pre-orders for the unlocked iPhone 5c had launch day availability so saying that they never do is false.
2. I do not see anything that says that the iPhone 5s unlocked is not available on launch day.

I'm starting to think he wants to discourage people from placing orders to place his order.

He's been claiming no unlocked phones with absolutely 0 evidence in multiple threads at this point.

The Tmobile one sold online is unlocked. If you go the store and buy a verizon iphone 5s, it'll be GSM unlocked. If you buy a full price iphone 5s AT&T, it will be unlocked when you restore.

They're not going to advertise the unlocked phones simply due to traffic.

Yep, but I got a different answer than you did and it appears somewhat valid. The lack of transparency is very frustrating right now.

He never did answer your question.

He only said that the separate non-T-Mobile unlocked version is not available.

True, however saying that the "unlocked" version is not available makes me think I need to do something through t-mobile, whom I have no interest in dealing with.

EDIT: Just tried chat again, this time the agent just ended it without answering my question.

Below the T-Mobile option.

If you buy iPhone for T-Mobile, it will arrive with a nano-SIM card already installed that you can activate by visiting an Apple Retail Store or a T-Mobile store or by calling T-Mobile. When you travel internationally, you can use a nano-SIM card for iPhone 5s from a local GSM carrier. For details on LTE support, see www.apple.com/iphone/LTE.

It'd be hard to do that with a locked phone.
