No upgrades in store in UK

theres a lot of talk on the 02 iphone forums with people saying us upgraders will be ordering online only.
I can see this happening as it will avoid confussion in the stores.
only thing is when would they send us the phone? I'm on holiday 5th - 12 th July so hopefully come back to my new iphone sitting at the local UPS office

Think we'll be able to upgrade over the net, can do it with all other networks and now the phone is being subsidized its essentially going to be treated the same way i think.

Just to confirm that I was in an O2 store yesterday and they have a sign up saying that existing iPhone users must upgrade online and won't be done in the store. However, they did also say that anyone upgrading WILL receive the new phone on the 11th July (i.e. they must be posting the day before).

This suits me as I don't envy those who will have to queue up and wait 10 minutes per customer while the assistants conduct credit checks.

If they can ensure its delivered to my house on the 11th that would be perfect and much kudos to O2

Well that's a bit rubbish, was looking forward to going into store and getting one! Hopefully we will be able to order before July 11th for it to arrive on July 11th. Especially as the 11th is a Friday so realistically if you order on the Friday the earliest it will get to you is the Monday.

just register your interest opposite and we'll drop you a line in early July to tell you what you need to do to be one of the first to get your hands on the new iPhone 3G.

Boils down to what O2 think is early July… and the processing time needed.
It might also mean we'll get told that we can get pick it up in store. Although…
