So I bought an iTunes gift card yesterday and I've been trying to activate the damn thing for a while now. I assumed I just be able to use the new camera option to redeem it, but that option doesn't even show up.

Typing in the the code manually doesn't seem to work either as literally nothing happens. I type in the code, it pops up a box asking me to enter my password (which I do), and then nothing. It just sits there.

Is the camera option missing for anyone else?

You need to click redeem first and then the camera option come up. At least it does on my MBP running ITUNES 11.

I'm already in the redeem section I'm afraid (I added a screenshot). Clicking that redeem button with no code in the box does nothing (much like when there's a code in the box).

I suppose it's possible that something is corrupted, which wouldn't surprise me to be honest as after being lured to Mac's by the promise that it all "just works", that hasn't really been my experience at all.

Anyway, assuming iTunes is stuffed somehow, how do I go about fixing that. More PRAM and SMC resets in my future I assume.

I see it on mine, what's your Mac model?

It's a 2012 rMBP.

What it should look like if your interested.

ITunes probably verifies somehow that you have a camera. Is the camera working OK?

Hi,

Yeah, I thought it might be a problem with the camera (I quite often run into that common bug where the camera just decides to disappear), but I've opened Facetime and the camera seems to be fine.

I'm at work at the moment (remoted in to the mac), but if I haven't sussed it out by the time I get home I might just do a complete fresh install of Mountain Lion.

this "feature" is only available on certain countries.
the UK is one of the countries that doesn't have it.

Not working for me here in the USA

I just upgraded to iTunes 11. I'm in the USA, and I have no "Use Camera" option. I have a 2007 iMac with FT camera which works fine in all other apps.

Of note, I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. But what would that have to do with anything?

I don't have the use camera option either. I'm running 11.0.1 iTunes, 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, 1.0.2 Facetime, iMac(2009) which is equal to or exceeds all Apple requirments in the US and I'm getting nada.

Seems to be very hit or miss.

I think it depends on which application you use to redeem a card. For me:

Yes: Ciick redeem from within iTunes
No: Click redeem from within Mac App Store

I think all of us are talking about redeeming a card within iTunes. That's why an upgrade to iTunes 11 is important for the "camera to redeem" feature. It just not appearing for some of us.
