I have a 13" macbook pro (the newest edition), and am attempting to connect it to my hdtv. I bought a mini dv to hdmi connector and hdmi cable and connected it to the tv. It worked perfectly.
After the cable was borrowed and jammed into the firewire port of an imac by my non-tech savy family member, the cable ceased to work on my computer. The cable no longer outputs video to the monitor. I presumed the connector to be the problem, so I purchased a new connector.
After connecting the new connector, the mbp screen turns blue for an instant, and the tv screen begins to flash. The computer allows me to change settings on the connected tv, but the tv shows no video. The connector feels warm to the touch after a short while. I have tried to connect to several hdmi ports on two different tvs with no success.
Is it possible that the mini dv port has become damaged? Has anyone heard of the above described flashing screen symptoms?
Thanks
