iPod touch no view option in itunes 8

as the title say i can’t change the view option for my ipode, if i’m in the music library it works but when i highlight music under my ipod it’s greyed out, it’s also greyed out in the view option on the tool bar, anybody got a fix

i’ve tried going back to 7.7.1 but it won’t let me

You can't do it in 7.7.1 either. You can't do that in any version of iTunes, if I remember correctly. And I say that because none of my six iPods let me do that.

I think if you set it from automatic sync to manual it will fix that.

thanks grandpa-green but if you mean what i think you mean i already have it set to manual sync, the basic setting are the same as they were in 7.7.1

If you have it set to manual sync then it should definitely let you select things on your iPod. It's only supposed to have things greyed-out if it's set to auto sync...

i tried using a backup of my pc from last month that had itunes 7.7.1 but it didn’t recognise my ipod and told me i had to install 8, anybody know how i can go back to 7.7.1?
