Hi Guys!

Despite being in love with my new MBP, I would still like to have the ability to develope for SQL Server 2008.

I tried to install Vista 64bit today. First everyting went fine, went through a couple of reboot and entered login - then it decides to shutdown and restart, where I get error messages about drives and partitions etc.

hmm - is this a driver problem with the new SATA controller ? - or is 64bit Vista not supported at all??

Well, I have a 64 bit, and that works fine. All you have to do is go to the Internet and find more compatibles drivers. Try booting into safe mode. I don't know why your computer keeps on shutting down, but mine was fine. Just needed better drivers. After all, Mac OSX is a 64-bit OS.

Assuming Vista is very similar Windows 7, the only 64-bit drivers needed for functionality was video drivers and sound drivers. Everything else can be found and installed on your OS X install disc.

hmm.. I am just puzzled why it installs fine, but can not boot.

can't boot? what happens when you try booting into windows? does it go to Mac again?

I'm not sure what you've tried but you can switch the startup partition by pressing and holding the "option" key at powerup.

I get a:

Warning unrecognized partition table at 80

and request to fix it with FDISK

My version of Vista 64 is working fine, but I am getting the red optical out light from the headphone port and my "Performance Assessment" gives me a graphics ratings of "1.0", even with the newest nvidia drivers.

I had that problem, but only with no display drivers. Check in the System Properties if your card is listed as NVIDIA 9600 GT, or if it says 'Generic Display Adapter.'

In Device Manager, I have NVIDIA 9600 GT. The latest drivers, too. Everything is running peachy, so I am not very concerned.

Wait, seriously, I had no idea that MBPs support 64bit Windows. Is this TRUE? How?

I'm sorry, I'm ignorant.
