All the article says is that AT&T could not confirm that they would have white ones. Says nothing about Apple stores, or the US in general.

You sure you're not a reporter for Fox News? :p

Haha I'm fairly sure!
No I'm not taking this as fact or anything, just curious if anyone had any insight on the statement.

it wont be available in UK on launch... maybe when steve planned the iphone 3 he initially ordered the black and just before WWDC keynote he decided he would add white... and they didnt have enough time to prepare them..

I will be so disappointed if there's no white on Friday. I've waited so long already, I don't want to have to wait longer just to get a white one.

If Steve said, then it must be so. However, I'm sure it will be a lot less than black ones.

thats jus because all the demos we recieved are 8 gigs, which only come in black.

we will have white on iDay

exactly. when have you ever seen a 16GB iPhone on display in an Apple store? They wouldn't throw away the extra money on a demo unit when the 8GB model does exactly the same thing. They don't need the most storage available since it's just a demo after all.
No one can confirm if they'll have white or not because they've only gotten the demo units (i.e., the black 8gb model) and not the actual stock yet.

Having said that, I kind of do wish they'd have at least one white one out for you to see in comparison to the black. I'm still pretty sure I'll go with black, but I would like to see the white one in person

Where has that officially been stated? All I've seen is that the O2/CPW preordering yesterday didn't have white. Then again, the Apple website does not (yet) say that Apple stores will sell the iPhone, whereas other info, including from the O2 sales director says they will. I reckon white could be an Apple Store only option at launch
