Hello everyone,
I just installed a second hard drive in my MBP 15" Mid 2009 model (replaced the superdrive). I used the manual to replace the optical drive with the optibay adapter for my SSD (this one: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/...ody-Mid-2009-Optical-Drive-Replacement/1728/1)
However I did not unplug the battery as told in the guide (didn't have the right tools).
After replacing the optical drive I have some strange behavior:
1. Fan is running all the time. The left fan is running all the time although the system usage is at about 1%.
2. System restarts on shutdown: everytime I hit shutdown my macbook restarts itself.
3. The Airport Card is not recognized, I'm not able to use the wifi on my macbook.
I googled a lot and found different solutions for the 3 problems. The most common solution was the SMC reset (described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964). But it seems that this did not work (not sure if I did it right, is there any feedback that indicates that the SMC has been reset successfully?).
My questions are:
1. Where can I find any information what is wrong with my MBP (system log etc...)?
2. Would disconnecting the battery help (note that I have a unibody macbook so the SMC reset should work without disconnecting the battery).
Thanks for your help.
