I upgraded by brothers early 2011 MBP 13" to Lion OS and there is no wifi connection listed in network connections nor is there any wifi bars on the menu bar. Even during lion setup, it never asked to setup a wireless connection, it only offered ethernet and firewire.

Anyone know how to fix this before I attempt another restore?

Try these steps to see if it helps:

1. Open System Preferences->Network pane and click on the + button to see if you can add the Airport card in again.

2. Reset NVRAM and/or Reset SMC to see if thee help OS X see the Airport Card.

Please report back if any of these steps work.
