No WiFi since 2.0.1

Hello! My friend just updated his new iPhone to 2.0.1, and his WiFi option is grayed out. As in, there's not even a button for on/off. Any advice?

We've restored, reinstalled iTunes, and been on the phone with Apple Support, who's engineer responded with, "Wow! I've never seen that before!".

Thanks for any help!
