So I have this issue where there is some noise on my MacBook's line-in jack. I don't normally like to use it to record, but I need to use it to record my Roland SoundCanvas because I don't have an audio interface with stereo 1/4" line-in jacks. Does anyone know what is causing this and if it can be resolved? I can send an audio sample to showcase the issue. It's not super noticeable unless you go looking for it, it just bothers me that it's there.

Just remember that procedure and use it at certain times a years when the heating or cooling cycles have finished and do the Pramm/NVRAM reset!
Will do!

Mind you to send me that sample recording?
Sure! Here's something I recorded from my Roland SC-880 and the noise is pretty noticeable to me. It's particularly noticeable at the end. You'll want to listen on some good speakers to hear it (headphones also work).

(Link to my SoundCloud, but this is not advertising. The defect is demonstrated at the end of this and I can't upload an mp3)

Well, I get that problem all the time as a professional sound technician.
I would try first to use the extension cable on the charger for your macbook as that makes a proper earth connection.
If it doesn't get better try to unplug it from the charger. Maybe a ground loop issue.
Then if it still is there try turning off the wifi. That helped me in the past.

Ok, thanks! I do have the extension cable plugged in. It's probably a ground loop issue given I have my SC-880 and my MacBook plugged into the same power strip.
