What are the normal noise levels from the SuperDrive, when burning CD's from iTunes it very load making it pretty much useless in any quite or semi-quite environment. Is this normal?

I notice a very loud and weird sound whenever I put any CD/DVD into my macbook, but after that it gets kinda quiet.

That's normal. If you want it to be quieter, manually set the burn speed to a lower value in the burning options of iTunes. The default lets the SuperDrive check out the media and burn as fast as it thinks it can. Think about it, at 24x burn speed, that disc is spinning ~5,000RPM, so it's going to make some noise ;)

This too is also normal, as it's the slot loading mechanism grabbing the disc and aligning it, then seeking for the start of the disc. The Matshuita drives are louder than the other brand that also supplied Apple (I forget who it is, Pioneer or Panasonic maybe?)
