I'm looking for some noise isolating earbuds. I was looking to buy some Bose noise canceling headphones and someone told me they provide about -15 db, while in-canal earbuds can provide up to -45.

I did end up getting the Bose headphones, but I want a nice pair of earbuds for trips and such where I just need to throw them in my pocket.

So:
sound quality as good as Bose(which from what I hear isn't that great)
atleast -15db
comfortable fit/easy to put in without hassle
in the $100 range

Thanks. :)

Etymonics.

Sound is flatter though. I mean, it's flat through its entire range. It won't be capable of huge bass, or lots of treble, etc. The sound will be good, but I can't really say I "prefer" them. However, nothing will block out noise better, perhaps except active noise cancelling ones.

I've never heard anyone say that noise-cancelling earphones or headphones were good, so I'd just skip them. The few reviews I bothered reading said they heard a slight hiss when the NC was on, but with no music.

Looks like three look pretty good:

v-moda vibes
d-JAYS (or q-jays)
Etymotic ER-6

Thoughts?

I use these and I'm happy with them. Got 'em from the Apple Store in the price range you're looking at.

Shure scl3 for only 60 bucks.

But they're not supposed to isolate really well, just average.

It really depends on your priorities, but if you're so desperate for sound isolation, you should get the best at isolating, even if the sound is particularly good for the music you're listening to. I don't mind some external noise, so the Shure's would suit me just fine.
