Noise when opening the MBP

Its my first time to use MBP. I purchased the 13" 2.53 ghz.
im just wondering that when i on the MBP its have a noise it sounds like the hard drive booting.

is it normal?

is it normal?

Both my 15" MBP 2.0GHz's and 17" MBP 2.8GHz's optical drives make a mechanical sound when first switched on so I'd say it's normal.
