iPhone 11 Pro Noisy/Blurred Screen when Taking Night Mode Pictures

Tried searching this out in other threads, but didn’t quite see my issue.

I’ve only had my 11 Pro Max for under 24 hours. Took some Night Mode pics last night that came out not great to really good.

What I noticed is that prior to taking certain shots, the view screen is very noisy - almost blurry. The resulting picture is brighter as the Night Mode works in that regard, but there is noticeable noise, just not as bad as in the screen view prior to capturing the final image.

I wish I could have captured the blurry screen view, but I only have my Pro Max and my iPP. It was awkward and one or the other was going to hit the floor.

Before thinking something is defective with my phone camera, wanted to ask if this is normal behavior.

The camera is slowing the shutter and cranking up everything it can to show you the scene you are attempting to shoot via Night Mode, which is why things slow down/go blurry on your phone.

Ok this makes sense. My only question is why are some pictures coming out great and others are not. The lighting conditions are practically the same in terms of level. I will play with this some more so I can be certain I’m asking the right questions or if I’m having an issue at all.

Hand shake will play an enormous role in how well things look. Even very slightly moving your hand will impact it heavily.

Long exposures need the camera to be held still.

Ok, so it wasn’t like I was twitching or anything like that last night, lol. That said, I retook pictures tonight - one of the exact same shot I was try to get last night and it came out really well - go figure. Definitely better shots tonight than last night overall.
