Nokia and Microsoft deal shakes up industry.
Pact between two big players is bad news for operators.

The Guardian

I'm sure Apple will be watching this one very closely... Is it me or has Nokia lost the initiative it once had with their mobile phones?

I know several iPod owners – Minis, Shuffles, Photos.
Not one has ever said: I wish I had my music on my phone.

Convergence? I dunno...

In a somewhat ironic twist, Nokia employees have just started getting an Apple discount as of this week.

And, yes, they've lost their initiative. They're great with odd things - can't wait for them to announce a phone that grows its own fur or whatever - but seem to have lost any feel for consumer interests.
