I'm sure it's a fine phone, but many reviewers have picked up on the small fact that Nokia doesn't lead this sector anymore in terms of innovation and, if they don't do something soon, wont lead in terms of market share either.

Certainly no 'iPhone Killer', though pretty much every touch-screen handset since the release of the original iPhone has been touted as one by some hack, somewhere or other.

I had the Nokia N97 on pre-order when I decided that I was going to get the iPhone 3G S instead. There were countless reasons why I decided this, but the main one was that the Nokia N97 lacks the most essential thing a "flagship" should have: 3D acceleration. Plus, its specifications looked so outdated by the time it actually was released.

It was a hassle to "cancel" the pre-order, even when it was not even shipped. Nokia customer service is horrible; I was on hold for two hours at one point. I could never officially cancel the order; the only option I had was to refuse the package when it arrived. Basically, the order canceled itself due to, as a customer service representative put it, "that we were not able to contact you to confirm your order". When they did call me after I made the $699 plunge to pre-order it. Nothing has been charged on my card.

Nokia will never get my business.
