I've been experimenting with a couple new to me tweaks, to keep me from having to use the top sleep button so much.

I have quicklock2 which gives you an icon to lock the device from the sb. When I use this with nolockscreen, and power the device back up, it goes to a blank black screen with only the status bar. Only thing I can do is use sbsettings to toggle the nolockscreen off, then sleep and turn the device back on with the lockscreen.

It does power up correctly with nolockscreen when I use the power>lock thru sbsettings to sleep it.

I've also added "homescreen" to wake up the device on the first sb page regardless of which screen I left it on. Disabling homescreen doesn't fix the issue

Just throwing it out there in case somebody has exp with it or maybe a dev is reading! :) I'm on 4.2.6 JB with GP.
