Nomad today announced the launch of a new version of its Base Station Hub, with the updated option featuring a magnetic alignment feature.

The new Base Station Hub has the same three coil design as the prior model, but it now has built-in magnets to help you better position an iPhone on a Qi hotspot for the most efficient charging. Each wireless coil supports up to 10W, and for the iPhone models, that means the Hub is able to charge them at a maximum of 7.5W.

In addition to spots for charging up to two devices wirelessly, the Base Station Hub is also equipped with a 7.5W USB-A port and an 18W USB-C port for wired charging, allowing for a total of four devices to charge at one time.

The Base Station Hub is available from the Nomad website for $120.

It might literally kill a manufacturer to make an iPhone+Watch-only dock that looks this nice - apparently.
I finally broke down and bought the MagSafe Duo(on sale). For my wife and I. It makes travel so nice, they actually magnetically stick together in a stack. I wish another manufacture would create something as nice, and cheaper. I don't need fast charging or any of that, just don't like to travel with a nest of wires. I'm probably going to have to get some for the kids now.

Sucky thing about the Duo is that if you have an iPhone 13 Pro with the Apple leather case, it doesn't lie flat. It kills me! Hope the Duo works out for you, I bet it's really nice to travel with.

Let me know when someone makes a true over-the-air wireless charger so that as long as I’m in the room the phone is charging. Everything else is still just wired charging without the port.

Pretty sure I’ve heard about Xiaomi and Motorola so far.

So, a Qi charger with magnets for $120 that works just like the Qi charger with magnets that I bought for $20 on Amazon?

I wish there was a three-in-one that is MagSafe Certified for both the iPhone and AirPods chargers, as well as compatibility with the series 7 watch’s fast charge. That doesn’t seem like too much to ask, but no one is coming out with one.

Is this MagSafe without the licensing? I don't understand.
This uses the magnets on the back of iPhones to align itself with the charging coil, just like every other wireless charger marketed as MagSafe compatible (instead of MagSafe Certified). The magnets work similarly but these are stuck with 7.5W wireless charging instead of 15W for the MagSafe certified chargers.

Don’t you still need to carry a cable or cables to plug the charger or chargers into the wall?

Yes, but they unplug from base, and it's lightning. So only 2 wires and charger blocks needed. Needed at least 5 cables before 2 magesafe (or lightning), 2 Apple Watch Chargers and a extra lightning to charge iPads. And that was only for the wife and I, both of my kids also have Apple watches, phones and iPads. So once we put a second mortgage on the house and get the kids MageSafe Duos, we'll go from 10 cables and charge blocks to 4 wires.

I've tried a few of Nomad's products, some more than once. I find them to be the worst and most unreliable charging experience. Between the slow charging speeds, inability to connect to the device(s) properly, and just the overall issue of the charging pad dropping connectivity to my devices to be completely unacceptable. Sure, they do look beautiful but a product that fails at its intended use is a huge issue. Nomad's customer service is pretty good and it's no questions asked on the returns. All I want is one of their devices to actually work as described with the same charging speeds as other options and have it actually work.
