Nomad Rugged brown leather case on the iPhone 12 mini.

No gaps between frame and screen, secure fitment all around, smells strongly of genuine leather, nice in hand feel, not a lint magnet at all, lightweight and claims 10ft drop protection over the previous 6ft cases they sold. Good camera protection, no gaps in the leather by the camera frame, good screen lip protection even with a screen protector fitted.

I had read a few reports of the buttons not being very nice, but either they’ve improved them or I simply got lucky as they feel fine.

Not the cheapest, but I’m actually pleasantly surprised by the quality, look and feel as I was using the genuine Apple black leather case but wanted a brown one and every one I ordered I wasn’t happy with the quality.

Nice! I like how they picture the patina right on the box so buyers know what to expect as well! If only this had mag-safe magnets built in, I'd be all over this like stink on a monkey.

Yeah, and going by what I saw from previous years the patina on these cases is really nice.

I returned my MagSafe as I didn’t feel any benefit personally, so for me it’s fine but I wonder if they’ll add MagSafe compatibility to it going forward.

I got one of these for my 12 Pro Max. I really like the case. The buttons feel great - like you said - very acceptable. The case is a little thick but it doesn't feel HORRIBLY thick.

Those of us who have destroyed Apple leather cases by slightly dropping them on cement will appreciate the rubber edges (I know I do).

It is a great case.

Exactly this! As soon as the Apple leather cases scratch or scuff on concrete they’re junk.

Looks really good. I’ll probably order a rustic brown to go along with my natural Nomad. The natural color is developing a patina that resembles filth and not the nice dark brown the rustic brown develops. Here’s my Nomad at just over a month. Pictured on the right is when it was brand new.

So you would like a ring on your nice leather case?

Only if that ring is highlighting an apple logo. Then I'll pay extra. ;)

Seriously though... I've been using apple leather case with magsafe since launch day. If I turn on my brightest lights and angle my case juuuuuust right... I can see some "smoothness" in the outline of a ring. Either way it doesn't concern me much. I like leather for the added grip and nice feel in my hand, not as a fashion accessory.

Here is a photo of mine under my bright bathroom lights at an angle that took me 2 min to get right with my iPad for this photo:

I tried using this case twice for the XS Max, but wound up selling them both because I didn't like how the buttons were flush with the case, making them hard to find. I agree with your review of the case, though. I had tried a variety of leather cases for the XS Max (even a few Vaja cases), but none of them smelled as good as the leather used by Nomad.

Tried leather wipes?

lol, slip sliding away..
Correct, to combat that I would wipe it and let it sit sit a day or two before using it. Had 3 leather cases and would do it every Sunday.
This made sure everything got absorbed and nothing would get on my skin.

Around 6 months of use on the cases. Barely used the red, black, green.
current combo with the Silver & Brown.
cases were cleaned with Clorox or equivalent regularly along with armor all wipes once in a while.

What’s this got to do with the nomad rugged case?

Clorox and Armor All? Wow. That's one hell of a combination.

I had thought about getting this, but after seeing yours, I'm glad it wasn't in stock until January. .

I found alcohol wipes to take off color from the leather. Clorox et all didn’t seem to damage it.
Interesting, well, I'm going to have to try it out then because I noticed that with alcohol too.

Just ran a Clorox wipe over my Mujjo tan case and no change in color. I think it’s safe to use and sanitize. Unless my Mujjo is actually fake. 😬
Go for it! MagSafe wallet also loses color with alcohol.
