Hi,

I want to convert video files from .m4v to .mp4. The videos are not DRM projected, the video is H.264 and the audio is AAC, 2h. Can I just change the extension, or do I need to transcode? (When I have tried conversion apps the resulting file has been bigger or smaller. Its only 480p, but I want to maintain the original quality).

Thanks

I change the extensions routinely and haven't had an issue. Some of the newer web browsers balk at m4v extensions where they play the same file after the extension is changed to mp4.
