I am wondering if anyone knows whether iPhone OS 3.0 has the ability for developers to install new system-wide extensions. An exaple would be let's say Microsoft makes a version of it's media player for the iPhone (kind of far fetched, but work with me) and during the installation made it so when the phone tries to read a WMV or WMA file from any app, it would open media player.
This could be user configurable. Meaning a user could choose to let iPhone open a .doc file in the native Apple document viewer or Microsoft Word for iPhone (hoping for that).
