I've been lusting after the 4k Seiki monitors for a while, but not pulled the trigger. I got frustrated today with my current setup (DualHead2Go is very annoying, and one of my displays is apparently dying) and happened to check out the Seiki 4k TV's on Amazon and noticed they were $340 today.
Well, in the heat of the moment I pulled the trigger on it with an Accel adapter.
Now that it's in the mail, I'm starting to wonder if I've overlooked something or if it will not work. I can't seem to get a definitive bead on what hardware actually will work with this thing. I've seen a handful of mac minis (also mid 2012, non-retina of course HD4000 machines) running them. It also seems like at least one person has gotten MBAs to work, and I can't imagine why an MBA would work but an MBP wouldn't. (e.g. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1681560/). I'm running 10.8 still and am hesitant to update to 10.9 before I know if it'll work. I feel like I've seen a well-tested 10.8 patch floating around and people are asking for the one for 10.9 and it doesn't seem to exist.
My dualhead2go is running two 1080 displays and I guess the MBP sees this as a 3840x1080 display. Does that mean I'll be fine with the Seiki?
Assuming it doesn't plug and play, what do I need to do?
