Yes, I installed text edit plus and open terminal to check many documents and apps as well. I don't have the boot disk but I even factory reset it and still nothing.

I can open Google Chrome, battle.net, pokerstars, spotify, and steam. Everything else tries to open then stops.

Try booting into safe mode (http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262) and then repair permissions of your boot disk.

Hopefully it's just a permission issue.
