Hi all,
Although I am not a total noob, I am confused about the whole backup/restore process when it comes to iOS/iPhone's
I've had an iphone since the 3GS and have had every new iPhone since, currently on iPhone 6
When I had my iPhone 5, and the iOS 7 beta was released I HAD to try it, the new UI looked cool enough to test out despite of the bugs/sluggishness.
Now, from what I recall, I paid a 3rd party a $2.99 fee for the UDID registration, it worked and I was able to install the beta. Now, the funny part, I would wipe out my current iOS 6, Fresh new install of ios 6 and then shift + upgrade and upgrade to the ios 7 beta and reinstall all of my apps, readjust my settings, and sync up email/contact/settings and what not. In fact I did this a few times going from each new beta back to ios 6 then back to the newest beta release, It was very foolish and a giant waste of time lol but i didn't mind.
NOW, here is what the thread was made for and my million dollar question, do I have the ability to do a FULL backup of my current iPhone 6 setup, meaning if I were to test out the ios 9 beta 1 and did not like it and wanted to restore, does the restore bring my iphone to the exact state it was in when I backed up?
So, my apps would all be downloaded (and signed in) my recent phone calls/messages thread will be saved, and all of the customizations I have made through settings will all be there. My email accounts still signed in and what not...
Essentially, If I were to do a "full backup" before possibly testing out ios 9, is this what I am going to get? or am i Missing something.
Also, If I were to restore from ios 9? would I select the most recent backup from itunes? from what I recall you have the ability to select the backup you want.
To wrap things up, my main concern is what exactly is "backed up" in itunes,
Do I have the ability to "back up" my iphone in itunes, upgrade to ios 9 beta 1, and if I dont like it, revert back to my EXACT current ios setup (same apps installed and signed in, messages saved, call list saved) OR is that not possible?
