Im new to mac, I just transfered all my photos from my windows PC to and SD card, now to the Mac,... is there not a folder to put them in or do I have to create my own in the "documents" folder.. or is there a better way to do this without all of them being cluttered??

Select all of the photos and drag them onto this icon in your Dock:

1) Put the photos in a folder on the desktop.

2) Bring up iPhoto and import the phots from that above folder

3) Drag the folder from the desktop to the trash

4) Connect and external disk and set up Time machine. Then make at least one more backup manually

50 Back to iphoto... Add meta data tags to you photos and creat some smart albums and let your images sort themselves in to the smart albums.

Don't worry where iPhoto puts your photos (It will be in the iphoto library folder in the photos folder but you don't need to know this.

Perfect! Thanks All im trying to do is move stuff from windows pc, to the mac. ill import and all the fancy stuff later.

Doing this will make extra work for you -- it is ithe Windows way. Import directly into iPhoto as described herein, and save yourself a lot of extra work and a lot of extra drive space. Let the software work for you, not you work for the software. Macs are made to be easy, Windows is not. Micromanaging is out!
