I have an older airport extreme. Why would my download speed on my 2011 MBP be 50bps but my iPhone 5s be 10bps on my home wifi? My newer technology in the iPhone 5s, I would think the wireless would be better on the iPhone 5s, no?

This is typical. I don't exactly know why, but I've seen this with all my iPhones, iPads and Macs. My Macs are always faster, even though they are older. My 2011 iMac will get 200Mbps/20Mbps with an Apple Extreme AC Base station, but my iPhone 6 which has AC capabilities, will max out around 150Mbps/20Mbps.

Would I get faster download speeds on my iPhone if I updated to the 2013 Airport Extreme?
