In the 1960s and 1970s, he was a role model of sorts for me because there were so few Japanese on t.v. He was quite the comedian. In "The Karate Kid", he brought some dignity to some nasty issues.
 
I was very depressed to hear abou this news. Remembered "Happy Days" and "Karate Kid."

Karate Kid was pretty cool. The one where the girl had an eagle and stuff. Good Guy.

I particularly remember him from Happy Days - always enjoyed that show. Too bad, but life goes on, we all have to go at some point. At least he enjoyed a full, successful life. :)
