I've ordered new ram (2X4GB) however, how can the page outs with not one application (other than activity monitor) be this high?

I checked because I was using safari (and safari only), one tab - facebook and it was crashing, being slow... I couldn't use it.

I've got a genuis bar app this friday, but WHY is this happening :(

The pageout count is only reset on a reboot, so checking this with no apps running doesn't provide useful information.

I see.

However I have no idea why my computer is being so slow then, it's definitely not normal.

Reboot it, and check memory usage with your normal assortment of apps running. A couple GBs of page outs in a short time indicates you need more RAM.
